Positive and negative consequences of Azerbaijan’s WTO accession process assessed

The WTO accession process of Azerbaijan, which applied to become a member of the organisation in 1997, but since then has more or less shelved the process in the hope of more favourable terms of accession, is assessed in this policy paper. The paper was prepared by the project “Strengthening capacities of the National Platforms of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum” implemented by a consortium led by REC Moldova.

The paper provides a detailed analyse of the benefits and losses for the country in the case of an accession and includes recommendations for different sectors of Azerbaijan’s economy to the Azerbaijani government for preparing a WTO accession action.

The full policy paper is available here.
