IPA's recommendations on increasing women's participation in politics

In December 2012, the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA), a member of the Civil Society Forum, has come up with recommendations on increasing women's participation in politics within the framework of "Women on election lists" project. IPA's Law and Democratic Institutions team, headed by Prof. Małgorzata Fuszara, identified the barriers preventing women from standing for election on equal footing with men based on the analysis of the participation of women in Poland's 2010 local government elections and in the 2011 parliamentary elections. The proposed recommendations are based on in-depth analysis of the statistical data, results of qualitative studies, an analysis of certain solutions applied in other countries, legal opinions and conversations with male and female politicians and experts.
