EaP CSF members ALDA and Lev Sapieha Foundation Publish the Results of their Joint Project - Tandem II

The European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA) and the Foundation for Democratic Reforms Support ‘Lev Sapieha’, which are EaP CSF members from the Public Administration subgroup of the Working Group 2, co-implemented the project TANDEM II “Cooperation for Citizen Participation and Community Development in Belarus”. The project was carried out from May 2013 until May 2015 to strengthen an inclusive and empowered society in Belarus by supporting the development of local communities and strengthening their cooperation with local authorities.

The following actions were undertaken as part of the project:

  • A range of trainings on the topics of local self-government and project management
  • Publication and distribution of analytical materials
  • International study visit to Latvia
  • Support of partner projects and civic initiatives
  • International conferences

ALDA is a membership based organisation of more than 170 members (including local authorities and non-governmental organisations) coming from more than 30 countries of Europe and the Neighbourhood, which works on the promotion of good governance and citizen participation at the local level.

Lev Sapieha Foundation is a public non-political and non-profit organisation with over 150 registered members and regional offices in every region of Belarus, which has the purpose to assist the process of gradual democratic reforms in the Republic of Belarus, mainly in the fields of local self-governance and democracy.
