Model of youth participation in “Eastern Partnership” discussed in Baku

An international conference on preparation of youth participation model in the “Eastern Partnership” was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 20-21 September. The event was organized by the “Young Democratic Reformers ” Public Union and the support of Youth Foundation Azerbaijan.

Representatives of state bodies and international organisations, members of Azerbaijan’s delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, and other parliamentarians held discussions on the preparation of youth participation model in the “Eastern Partnership”.

Opening the event, Ms. Vusala Huseynli, head of the World Youth Bank’s regional office, said that the aim of the conference was to support youth integration into Europe within the EU’s “Eastern Partnership” program, to create opportunities for new initiatives, and to help exchange of views with European experts in this field.

Ms Ulrike Lunacek MEP also shared her ideas  with participants by broadcasting a video statement.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Krzysztof Bobinski (EU co-ordinator of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, and head of the Foundation "Unia a Polska". Poland) provided detailed information on the "road map", "Eastern Partnership", and its opportunities and constraints associated with the development process.

Azay Guliyev, member of the Milli Majlis parliament in Azerbaijan, spoke about success in youth policy and other fields. He said that Azerbaijan is a part of Europe. Though Azerbaijan is a young country, it is persistent in working for integration to Europe.

Reports on numerous issues were delivered at the conference.
