Statement of the Georgian National Platform on Georgia's EU integration

Tagged under Georgia, National Platforms

The Georgian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum has issued a statement on Georgia's EU Integration and the current cohabitation.

In its statement the Georgian National Platform welcomes the steps taken towards European integration by the executive and legislative branches of the government, but warned of the negative effects that the dissemination of false information about the challenges accompanying the cohabitation process brings to this process. The attempts to manipulate the European integration issue by the opposition for its party’s goals could become harmful to the country’s image and interests. As a consequence, unjustified criticism directed against the new government, as for example represented in the wrong interpretation of the reformation of the Public Broadcaster in a recent resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, is heard periodically.

The National Platform called for a broad public debate on the issue of European Integration and appealed to all branches of Georgia’s government to pursue direct and intensive communications with European structures and European political parties.
