Neighbourhood Civil Society Facility: EC opens call for proposals to strengthen regional actions in the European Neigbourhood

The European Commission has published a €9, 9 million call for proposals with the overall objective to strengthen and promote civil society's role in reforms and democratic changes taking place in Neighbourhood countries, through increased participation in the fulfilment of Neighbourhood Policy objectives.

The Civil Society Facility financially supports projects led by civil society which are relevant in the context of the Neighbourhood Policy and responding to its two regional dimensions, the Eastern Partnership and the Partnership for Democracy and Shared Prosperity for the South. It also strengthens the capacities of civil society actors in the region to enhance their role in promoting reform and increasing public accountability in their countries and seeks to increase civil society involvement in sector policy dialogues and implementation of EU cooperation in relevant fields.

The specific objective of the Call is to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations from the European Neighbourhood partner countries allowing them to improve their engagement in policy making process and policy dialogue, their role as watchdog and monitoring players, and their representatives and links with their constituencies.

The Call is split into three lots:

Lot 1 – Covering Eastern Neighbourhood countries (six EaP countries)

Lot 2 – Covering the Southern Neighbourhood countries

Lot 3 – covering the countries of the Neighbourhood region involved in the Maghreb integration process

Deadline for submission of Concept Notes is 4th of June 2014 17:00 Brussels time.
