EaP CSF suggested civil society monitoring of infrastructure projects at meeting of the Transport Panel

The EaP CSF was represented at the meeting of the 4^th meeting of the Transport Panel on 30 April 2013 in Brussels by Gubad Bayramov from the Public Initiative Centre, Azerbaijan.

During the panel meeting participants were informed of the meeting of Transport Ministers on 13 February in Tbilisi and the panel was charged with the preparations for the next EaP ministerial Transport meeting on 9 October 2013. Therefore participants reviewed a list of priority actions prepared by the Commission. Further topics elaborated upon during the meeting where the “Motorways of the Sea” initiative and Integrated Border Management as well as the draft for an Eastern Partnership transport network as well as a list of two to three priority projects per partner country needed to develop this network.

The EaP CSF participant took active part in discussion on all agenda items and stressed the impact of custom regimes on the transportation field in his intervention. The findings and outcomes of shadow reports in this field conducted by CSF experts were presented to underline this interconnection. Furthermore, the CSF suggested that the monitoring of infrastructure projects should be conducted with the involvement of civil society organisations in order to guarantee objective reports and transparency.
