Visa-free Europe Coalition published its October Newsletter

23.10.2013

Coalition for the European Continent Undivided by Visa Barriers with 45 member organisations published its October newsletter. The newsletter informs about cooperation between EU and Eastern Partnership countries in the area of justice and home affairs, highlighting the meeting of Ministers of the EU Member States and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission in Luxembourg first week of October.

Another highlight is concerning the announcement from the European Parliament giving a ‘green light’ to EU-Armenia visa facilitation agreement which will facilitate the travel of Armenians to the EU for short stays and as well as backing up the work on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation.

The newsletter brings in focus also the EU mission arrival in Tbilisi to assess progress in implementation of the plan on visa liberalization between Georgia and EU; EC acknowledgement of Ukraine’s progress towards visa-free regime through intensification of reforms undertaken by Ukraine in order to fulfil the criteria of the first (legislative) phase of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan and 3-Day No-Visa policy to be introduced by the  Russian Federation.

Coalition for the European Continent Undivided by Visa Barriers was launched at meeting in Warsaw on November 26, 2010 on the initiative of the Stefan Batory Foundation. The coalition takes joint actions to speed up the process of EU visa liberalization with the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine) and Russia. We want to make ourselves better heard by decision-makers and make a stronger stand for visa-free Europe.
