ArchiveStatement from the Ukrainian National Platform of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and International Visa-free Coalition on suspension of visa requirements for the citizens of Ukraine22 December 2013 At this difficult time million-strong rallies prove the Ukrainians’ desire to be an integral part of the European Community, defending their European choice firmly and peacefully, demonstrating their commitment to European values of human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. Recommendations to improve visa facilitations drafted by sub-group at annaual meeting14 May 2013 The visa sub-group suggested to improve the current regulations of visa facilitation provided by the EU Visa Code and Visa Facilitation Agreement between the EU and third countries. In this regards recommendations were developed and presented during the sub-group meeting. Eastern Partnership Visa Liberalization Index11 March 2013 The newest edition of the Eastern Partnership Visa Liberalisation Index is available online. The CSF took part in the EaP Panel on Migration and Asylum12 April 2013 The EaP CSF was represented at the 4th meeting of the EaP Panel on Migration and Asylum which took place in Tbilisi on 20-21 March. The visa facilitation sub-group meeting29 June 2012 The members of the visa facilitation sub-group discussed their current projects on visa policy as well as future activities within. On the basis of the discussion – which included the results of monitoring initiatives in two areas: visa issuance by the EU consulates and fulfilment of criteria necessary for a visa-free regime with the EU by EaP states carried out by participant organisations – the sub-group agreed to take the following steps. EaP CSF (Visa subgroup) position on the Schengen visa issuance, visa facilitation and liberalisation processes29 June 2012 Strict visa regimes remain the most visible and sensitive obstacle for regular people-to-people contacts across Europe. Independent civil society monitoring initiatives show a variety of problems which legitimate travellers face when applying for visas, including ever-growing lists of documents required, unclear criteria of visa granting/refusal, low rate of long-term visas, non-respect of rules and provisions of the EU Visa Code and Visa Facilitation Agreements signed with some EaP states.s. |
