CSF WG3 discussed analytics the group will present at CFS in Chisinau16.08.2013 The annual meeting of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum Working Group 3 “ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY SECURITY” held on 8th of July in Chisinau, brought together experts from 6 EaP countries to discuss the activities of the Working Group. The attendees discussed group’s participation in climate and energy related events of the Eastern Partnership. Representatives of the group recently attended the Energy Security Platform meeting held in Vilnius and the Clima East event in Brussels. WG Co-coordinators presented the EaP CSF Steering Committee activities and highlighted main priorities related to the Chisinau Forum preparation and expectations from Vilnius Summit. The update on the Eastern Partnership process including issues of the Environment, Energy Security, Climate Change and Flagship Initiative on Good Environmental Governance was done by Alexandre DARRAS, Attaché and Project Manager at the EU Delegation to Moldova. The presentation can be found here. Lilia Carasciuc, National Co-ordinator of the Moldova EaP CSF NP, touched upon how the preparation to EaP CSF V in Chisinau. Victor Cotruta, REC Moldova and the Co-ordinator of the project on National Platforms strengthening presented the opportunities for WG3 within the project. Each of the subgroups discussed its input to be presented during the Civil Society Forum in Chisinau. Subgroup on Energy Security will prepare analytical document “Energy Security Assessment: Situation Analysis” of energy security of Lithuania, Georgia and Ukraine and will offer recommendations in each country. Subgroup on Climate Change will produce the paper “Preliminary public assessment of the processes of adaptation to and mitigation of climate change in the EaP countries”. Subgroup of the Sustainable Development will prepare the methodology of the transition to Sustainable Development for EaP countries and a methodology for calculating SD Index for EaP countries based on inclusion of environmental component into the Human Development Index. Subgroup on Biodiversity is going to prepare an assessment and urgent actions needed in the biodiversity protection area. Subgroup on Environmental Governance will present the draft Second Assessment on environmental governance. The reports of each subgroup meeting can be found here.
